TRVL Photography
Created in 2024, TRVL Photography is a joint tour operator business founded by Greg Snell & Brendan Van Son.
There are businesses that are planned, and there are businesses that are the result of evolution. TRVL is the latter.
Both Brendan van Son and Greg Snell have been leading tours for well over a decade. In fact, both of them have seen work in the industry from the ground up. Both started their travel careers working as tour leaders for adventure tour companies. Working at that base level of the industry was invaluable. In that position, you learn how to immerse your clients into the destination, you learn how to manage difficult situations, and, most importantly, you learn how to keep everyone safe.
As Brendan and Greg’s careers developed they moved into the fields of travel photography and travel videography respectively.
Within those realms, Greg and Brendan combined their knowledges of both tour leading and photography/videography to lead photography workshops all over the planet. In fact, they have led photography tours on all 7 continents.
But in leading these workshops, both Brendan and Greg started to feel as though they were falling into a bit of a photography trap. They felt like they were starting to guide people to the same old spaces, for the same old photos over and over again. In essence, they started to feel as if they were pulling further and further from their true passion in travel: the adventures.
Over the past decade, Greg and Brendan have discussed ways to bring this adventurous side of things into the photography world.
Enter TRVL.
With TRVL Brendan and Greg are aiming to push the travel photography tour industry. The goal is still to bring people to places where they can make incredible photos. But they want to simultaneously encourage participants in their trips to explore, learn, immerse, and bring back more than just a memory card of photos.
At the risk of using an explicit, the motto of TRVL could almost be: “Let your photos be great, and your stories be f**cking epic!”
As to not be excessive, instead our motto is “Explore. Adventure. Capture.”
The idea is to focus on the exploration side of things first. And through that adventure, there will be moments to capture. And in the end, we’ll take home more than photos. We’ll take home the stories behind the photos – and that’s so much more valuable.
The first TRVL adventures in 2025 are already sold out. In 2026, we’ll be offering trips to Bolivia, Uzbekistan, Tajikistan, and Ethiopia. In 2027, we’ll add a couple more destinations: such as Madagascar and Torngat Mountains, Canada.
We’re not calling our trips “workshops” or even “tours”. We’re calling our trips “adventures“.
So while the destination might not always be some rugged lesser known country, the trip’s focus will always be on getting people to places that most photographers don’t go. It’s about getting people to stunningly beautiful places to make stunningly beautiful photographs – but having a bit of an adventure along the way.
Where we’ll be leading you with TRVL there won’t be lineups of other photography workshops. But, there will be photos as equally beautiful, and moments even more special.
