Bolivia 2027

11 DAYS | €5249 | COMFORT SERIES | GROUP MAX 14

11 Days | From €5249 Twin Share

In 2027 we will return to Bolivia running a classic TRVL° Photography adventure in the heart of the Altiplano. As you know, a big part of travel photography is getting to places that are a little bit wild, uncomfortable even. It’s these rugged destinations – so heavily shaped by harsh natural conditions – that often lead to the best photos, and the best stories.

Our 11 day photography adventure in Bolivia takes you way up onto the altiplano (high plains).  Up there, you’ll experience the wonder of the Salar de Uyuni, the epic sight of the multi coloured mountains, and watch flamingos prance through red desert lagoons.

There are few places on earth that so perfectly encapsulate travel photography as Bolivia does. Here, you’ll photograph landscapes, wildlife, people, and more. Join us, and special guest Nick Page on this amazing adventure!

Pre- Tour Acclimatisation Add-on

We have learned that having a few pre days in La Paz is important for acclimatisation and realised that most of the group were doing this anyways. Therefore we have decided to organise a proper pre-tour acclimatisation add-on. This will run for 3 nights and two full days with the main goal to get ourselves used to the higher altitude.

We’ll stay slightly lower in the valley below La Paz and do photography focused day trips around the city, slowly acclimatising everyday. Nothing too strenuous, just to get you used to the altitude.

Pre-tour day 1 (March 10th, 2027): Arrival day. Transfer to the valley hotel. Welcome Meeting.
Day 2: Cable cars around La Paz, witche’s market and city walking tour.
Day 3: Sunrise shoot followed by a full day touring the Valle De Las Animas. Sunset back at a view point overlooking La Paz.
Day 4: Optional sunrise shoot nearby the hotel, breakfast then transfer up to the city hotel for the first official day of the main tour.

The price of the pre-tour add-on is €650 which can be added to your final payment invoice. Please keep in mind that this itinerary is also subject to change depending on weather and access to the photography locations and the Valle De Las Animas.

Post-Tour Amazon Jungle Add-on

There is also a post-tour to the Bolivian Amazon available if you’re interested. We’ll be returning to Madidi National Park where we’ll stay at an Amazon Eco-Lodge focusing on wildlife and nature photography. This is an absolute adventure and well worth it for those looking to stay in the area a bit longer and experience something totally different than the Salt Flats and high-altitude Altiplano of the main tour.

Amazon day 1 (March 24th, 2027): Fly to Rurrenabaque. Pick up at the airport and transfer to the jungle lodge via boat. This is an awesome way to get to the remote jungle lodge.
Day 2: Full day exploring the Madidi National Park.
Day 3: Rinse and repeat – Full day exploring the Madidi National Park.
Day 4: Morning in Madidi then transfer by boat and van to the Pampas region where we’ll spend the evening looking for Jaguar and other wildlife.
Day 5: Full day exploring the Pampas regions looking for Jaguar and other wildlife.
Day 6: Fly back to La Paz in the morning. Transfer to hotel and overnight there before departure day.
Day 7 (March 30th, 2027): Departure from La Paz International at any time on this day. Transfer included.

If you’re interested in joining this add-on, the price of the Amazon post-tour is €2500 euros, which can be added to your final payment invoice. Please keep in mind that this itinerary is also subject to change depending on availability at the Amazon Lodges and local domestic flight times.

TRVL° Trip Style

Comfortable Adventure: The TRVL° Photography Comfort Series blends discovery with ease, offering journeys that immerse photographers in inspiring destinations without sacrificing rest or relaxation. These trips are designed for those who seek meaningful adventure with a gentler edge. Capturing remarkable stories while enjoying comfortable accommodations, smooth travel, and a pace that prioritises both creativity and comfort.

How is the Accommodation?
Thankfully, over the years the accommodation on the altiplano of Bolivia has greatly improved.  We’ll be far from the comforts of the city, but the accommodation is quite comfortable throughout.

High altitude will be the biggest difficulty. All we can do is manage our time to acclimatize properly, rest and drink lots of water.

Fitness Level 2: Some longer walks, longer/bumpy drives. But no hiking or seriously strenuous activity. High altitude will be the biggest obstacle.

What is TRVL° All About?

In short, the motto is: “Explore. Adventure. Capture.”

One of our goals is to create beautiful photos, yes.  And we will.  But our larger goal is to connect with the destination we travel, and to create memories.  We want our participants to feel empowered by the experience.  We want our participants to walk away feeling like they captured great images, and even better stories.

We work with local tour operators and photographers in order to empower the photography community in the destinations we visit.  And in working with these local photographers, we help connect our tour participants with the locals on a way that is so special.

Your Adventure Tour Leader

Eelco Bakker – @bakkeritophotography

Back in 2004, Eelco spent a transformative year living in Bolivia, immersing himself in the country’s astonishing diversity. Fom the surreal, mirror-like salt flats of the Altiplano to the lush, untamed life of the Amazon basin. It was a journey of exploration, not only across landscapes but into culture, rhythm, and story. With his camera always at the ready, Eelco began to shape a visual diary through photography. His lens became a bridge between experience and memory, capturing not just scenery, but the cultural spirit of Bolivia.

That year planted a seed. Over the next two decades, Eelco continued to hone his craft and deepen his connection to storytelling through photography. Now, returning to Bolivia as a TRVL° leader feels like a dream realised, a full-circle moment. You can see Eelco’s work at bakkeritophotography.com
