17 DAYS | €4495 | ADVENTURE SERIES | GROUP MAX 8
17 Days | From €4495 Twin Share
Our Trekking Annapurna adventure is not a typical photography tour. It is a challenging multi-day Himalayan trek combining some of Nepal’s most spectacular mountain landscapes with intimate encounters in small villages, monasteries and daily life along the trail.
We begin in Kathmandu with two days of photography among the city’s temples, stupas and historic squares before heading into the Annapurna region. From Dharapani, we trek through the Marsyangdi Valley towards Chame, Pisang, Ngawal and Manang, photographing everything from terraced fields and traditional stone villages to enormous mountain panoramas and high-altitude landscapes.
After an acclimatization day in Manang, we continue higher towards Yak Kharka and Thorong Phedi before crossing the spectacular Thorong La Pass at 5,416m. From here the landscape transforms dramatically as we descend into Mustang, passing through Muktinath and the medieval streets of Kagbeni before continuing to Marpha and the warmer valleys around Tatopani.
Photography is built into the rhythm of the trek, with opportunities for sunrise and sunset shoots, local portraits, mountain landscapes, monasteries and the changing character of the Himalayas as we move from lush foothills to barren high-altitude terrain. We’ll finish in Pokhara before returning to Kathmandu for a final evening together.
This is a proper Himalayan trek and is not for the light of heart. Long days on foot, significant elevation gain and a maximum altitude of 5,416m make good fitness and preparation essential. If you’re interested in the physical requirements, check out our Fitness Level guide in the TRVL° Trip Style segment of this page.

Will there be a local support?
Yes. We are working with a trusted local operator who has extensive experience across Nepal’s major trekking regions, including Annapurna, Manaslu and Everest. Their team brings deep knowledge of the trails, strong local relationships and years of experience supporting international trekkers, with local guides, porters and logistics arranged throughout the journey.
They will work closely with us throughout the trip to handle the local logistics, trekking support and mountain expertise, allowing us to focus on creating the best possible experience and, of course, making the most of the photography.
One of the overall goals of TRVL° is to empower the local travel and photography communities we work with around the world. We aim to involve trusted local partners in all our trips and dedicate significant time to researching and building relationships with the people who know these destinations best. We believe this creates a more authentic experience for our guests while also ensuring that local expertise and communities remain at the heart of every trip.
TRVL° Trip Style
Adventure Series: The TRVL° Photography Adventure Series pushes beyond the familiar, taking photographers into rugged environments, unpredictable conditions, and some of the world’s most spectacular landscapes. These expeditions are built for those who value immersion over convenience, combining rewarding hikes, remote camps, and unforgettable photographic opportunities where the experience is every bit as important as the images.
On this Annapurna expedition, we spend almost two weeks travelling through the Himalayas on foot, following trails from the lush foothills of the Annapurna region to the high-altitude landscapes surrounding Thorong La and the stark, desert-like terrain of Mustang. Along the way, we’ll photograph towering peaks, traditional villages, monasteries, local people, alpine pastures, and changing mountain landscapes, with plenty of opportunities for sunrise, sunset, and blue-hour photography.
This expedition comes with some serious challenges. We spend consecutive days trekking at increasing elevations, eventually crossing the 5,416m Thorong La pass. Long days on foot, steep and uneven trails, changing mountain weather, and the effects of altitude all require a good level of fitness and a sense of adventure. These challenges are also a huge part of what makes trekking in the Himalayas such a rewarding photographic experience.
How is the Accommodation?
Accommodation on this Annapurna expedition is simple, comfortable, and designed around the realities of trekking in the Himalayas. In Kathmandu and Pokhara, we’ll stay in comfortable hotels, while throughout the trekking section we’ll stay in traditional mountain teahouses and lodges along the route.
The teahouses are basic but welcoming, providing a warm bed and a place to relax after long days on the trail. Most rooms are twin share, and facilities become increasingly basic as we gain altitude. Hot showers and other comforts are available in many locations, although they cannot always be guaranteed in the higher reaches of the trek.
All accommodation is based on twin share. A single supplement is available for €750 and can be added to your final payment invoice. This will guarantee your own room throughout the trip where single rooms are available.
You will need to carry your personal camera equipment and a small amount of personal gear each day, while porters will assist with the majority of your luggage. This allows you to keep your daypack manageable and focus on the trail and your photography without having to carry everything yourself.
Level 5 – Extreme:
This Annapurna expedition is designed for highly active travellers who are comfortable with sustained physical activity in challenging mountain environments. The trek involves multiple consecutive days on foot, significant elevation gain and loss, steep and uneven terrain, and long days at altitude.
The route reaches 5,416m at Thorong La, with several nights spent above 3,500m. Daily trekking can range from approximately 6–15 km, with some days involving several hours of continuous uphill or downhill hiking. Weather conditions can change quickly, and the effects of altitude can make even relatively short distances considerably more demanding.
A high level of fitness, good preparation, and a strong sense of adventure are essential. This is a genuine high-altitude Himalayan trekking expedition rather than a comfortable walking holiday, and participants should be confident spending multiple consecutive days hiking in strenuous conditions while carrying their personal camera gear.
If you’re looking for an easier-paced Nepal photography experience, this is not the trip for you. But if you’re ready to put in the effort, the rewards are exceptional: remote mountain landscapes, changing Himalayan light, traditional villages, and the opportunity to photograph some of the world’s highest peaks from deep within the Annapurna region.
What is TRVL° All About?
In short, the motto is simple: “Explore. Adventure. Capture.”
At its core, TRVL° is built around travel photography, with every itinerary thoughtfully designed to create strong photographic opportunities while also encouraging real connection with the places we visit. You will come away with compelling images, but more importantly, with meaningful experiences, lasting memories, and stories that go far beyond the frame. We focus on stepping into the unknown, discovering new places, and building a genuine connection with the world around you.
TRVL° is not a traditional photography workshop, and that is intentional. Our journeys balance guided photography moments with space for independent exploration, creativity, and discovery, allowing photography to become both a creative tool and a way of engaging more deeply with each destination. We work closely with local photographers, tour operators, and guides to support and uplift the communities we visit, creating authentic cultural connections for our participants. If this resonates with you, you’re in the right place.
